Ben's Mod for Artemis 2.7.5 to 2.8.x:
4.3.1 Fork UE Update 2024-02-07:
-
Added new enemy ship, the Skaraan Raider. A fast carrier with a wing
of fighters that have special abilities like other Skaraan warships.
-
Added dedicated internal data file for Typhoon Impulse-only
Battleship to more properly remove warp capability rather than making
it merely immensely energy intensive.
-
Updated Cygnus to its "finalized" form; I at least believe I'm done
tinkering with it.
-
Updated artemis.ini to fix torpedo tubes not working in 2.8.x, and
include other fields added to the artemis.ini since 2.8.0.
-
Added an artemislogo1024.png logo file to prevent the game from
sometimes showing a Ben's Mod splash screen and sometimes vanilla
4.3.0 Fork UE Update 2020-04-01:
-
Ben's gone again. Artemis 2.7.5 and 2.8.0 have been released, even
2.8.1 semi-officially, which have restored
the ability to modify torpedo yield, speed, and ostensibly turn rate.
Claiming an "official" fork titled, "Ben's Mod: Fork UE"
-
Reinstated The Halving. Shield capacity, shield regeneration rate,
and weapon damage has been cut in half across the board, except the
following:
-
Homing torpedo damage has been increased from 25 to 40.
Factoring in the effects of halving shield strengths, these are
weapons now! Again!
-
Nuke and Mine yield reduced to 65.625% of vanilla (instead of
50%), to address the unintended consequence of The Halving resulting
in enemy fighters being far less susceptible to splash ordnance as
seen in Ben's Mod 4.2.10.
-
PShocks are being made more available, both in default ship
magazine capacity and in station supply. Additionally, time to produce
has been reduced from 10 minutes to 4 minutes.
-
Non-shuttle singleseat craft have had their shields completely
removed, and playershield values reduced to 85-90 to maintain
proportionate relative resilience vs AI singleseats. Further,
singleseat fighters and bombers have had their torpedo capacity
reduced, from 3 to 2 and 6 to 4 respectively, to keep their relative
firepower roughly in line with vanilla.
-
Added Impulse and Maneuver target nodes to most player ships,
civilian ships, and singleseat craft. Why? Because I can! And it might
help out if any GM Sandbox content is ever done with Fork UE.
-
Fixed non-functioning beam target location nodes (and some beams'
firing angles) on several enemy ships.
Affected ships include: kralien sniper cruiser, kralien fighter,
torgoth kraken, torgoth manticore, torgoth sledge, and skaraan titan.
-
Fixed Executor Heavy Beam Destroyer .snt internal data file.
Previously lacked beam nodes, because it was using the internal data
for the vanilla missile cruiser, which has no beams of any kind. No
more running beams at 300% power without consequences!
-
Fixed an oversight which resulted in the Mosquito Light Carrier's
beam damage being double what it ought to have been. Reduced beam
damage from 6 to 3.
-
By player request, added new, shieldless, armor-based ship: The
destroyer-weight Mollusk Armored Light Assault Carrier.
-
By UE whim, added new, balance-scheme noncompliant ship: Cygnus
Light Cruiser.

Official Ben's Mod 4.3.11 is / was on
Ben's own site
for a while
4.2.12 UE Update 2018-02-25:
- Updated for Artemis 2.7.0 (also works fine on 2.7.1)
- Changed torpedo variable designations as required
("torpedo_storage type" 0 to trp, 1 to nuk, 2 to min, 3 to emp,
4 to shk)
- Added new ordnance types (Beacons, Probes, and Tags) to all
player ships.
- Due to the impossibility of modding ordnance in Artemis 2.7.x,
the following changes have been reverted:
- Reverted all ordnance damage, speeds, and quantities to
Vanilla values.
- Reverted PShock Formula change to original state (Ben's Mod
4.2.10 and prior).
- Reverted "The Halving" of Ben's Mod 4.2.10
- Reverted player and enemy shield recharge rates to
Vanilla values.
- Reverted player singleseat torpedo magazines to Vanilla
values.
- By player request, added several player ships:
- Player versions of Terran transport vessels, Science, Luxury,
Bulk Cargo, and Transport, including internal data files for each
ship, which intentionally lack torpedo, beam, and warp nodes; except
the Science Vessel which has torpedo nodes.
- Mosquito destroyer-weight carrier
- Typhoon impulse-only Battleship
- Also by player request, increased Terran-Ximni Jump Starbase
ordnance magazine from 4 to 8 nukes, 8 to 16 EMPs, and increased
shields from 300/200 to 400/300 (600/400 to 800/600 after reverting
The Halving).
Ben's Mod for Artemis 2.6.0:
4.2.12 (2.6.0 Legacy Edition) UE Update 2018-03-21:
- Further reduced Ben's PShock torpedo points formula value from 1
to 0.5, allowing for another doubling of PShock count on all ships
without breaking formula.
- Further increased PShock commonality on Stations to be more akin
to Homing Torpedoes, and take the same amount of time to produce
as Homing Torpedoes.
- Further increased PShock speed from 4 to 5 (vanilla: 3).
- By player request, added several player ships:
- Player versions of Terran transport vessels, Science, Luxury,
Bulk Cargo, and Transport, including internal data files for
each ship, which intentionally lack torpedo, beam, and warp
nodes.
- Mosquito destroyer-weight carrier
- Typhoon impulse-only Battleship
- Also by player request, increased Terran-Ximni Jump Starbase
ordnance magazine from 4 to 8 nukes, 8 to 16 EMPs, and increased
shields from 300/200 to 400/300
4.2.11 UE Update 2017-11-01:
- To address the unintended consequence of weapon damage / shield halving resulting in enemy
fighters being far less susceptible to splash ordnance, mine and nuke yields have been
increased by 31.25%. Relative to vanilla, the yield is now 65.625%
of normal instead of 50%.
- Halved player and enemy shield recharge rate to maintain proportional recharge times
after "The Halving" of 4.2.10.
- Fixed an issue where the Ambrosian Shuttle was missing a </vessel> tag.
- The Loki has been switched from the TSN hullrace to the Pirate hullrace so that it
may inherit the jumpmaster tag.
- Reduced Ben's PShock torpedo points formula value from 2 to 1, allowing for doubling
of PShock count on all ships without breaking formula.
- Renamed the TSN Heavy Bomber to TSN Gunship, and revamped its performance values a bit.
Reduced torpedo count from 2 to 1, increased turn rate, reduced
speed, tweak to description.
- Fixed the Ambrosian Lightning Fighter/Bomber, previously possessing too many torpedoes
ever since The Halving. Also renamed because the name was too long to fit in the ship
customization screen.
Rapid Fire Mod
Required for: Long Arm Missile Cruiser, Battleship, and Dreadnought.
This also overrides the Q shields toggle and makes it raise shields. No more accidentally lowered shields!
